Open carry is generally legal for 18+ statewide without a permit. Ohio is one of the few constitutional-carry states with an explicit statutory duty to inform on law-enforcement encounters.

Loaded handgun may be carried in a private vehicle without a permit by adults 21+ legally eligible to possess a firearm (per SB 215, eff. 2022-06-13). Persons stopped by law enforcement have an affirmative duty to promptly inform.
